Catalog Update for the weeks of 1/10 and 1/17

Today's post is the 100th post at the PLCB Users Group. A round of whiskey for everyone!

PLCB spirits catalog changes for the weeks of January 10th and 17th:

New in-store and online products:

• Courvoisier Cognac VS with 50 ML of VSOP 750 ML (#009564, One Time, $22.99)
• Felipe II Brandy 80 Proof Spain 750 ML (#030564, Online, $12.99)
• Stolichnaya Ohranj Vodka 750 ML (#003060, Regular, $20.99)

Felipe II, which was closed out of the regular selection in April of 2009, is now available through the online store. It's not amazing, but it's pretty good for the money. Certainly the lowest-priced Brandy de Jerez you're going to find.

In-store products moved to closeout:

• Stolichnaya Ohranj Orange Flav. Imp. Vodka 750 ML (#007188, Regular, $20.99)

For logistical reasons, Stoli Ohranj was moved to code #3060, which was formerly used by Stoli Ohranj Playboy Edition, a one-time buy. The old Stoli Ohranj code, #7188, was discontinued.

Delisted SLO products:

• Poli Dist Po Moscato di Poli Con Tubo 750 ML (#058933, SLO, $61.99)

In case you're wondering, "con tubo" doesn't signify anything special--it means the bottle is packaged in a cardboard or metal tube. It just sounds fancy because it's Italian.

Coruba is a dark Jamaican rum made by J. Wray & Nephew, who also make Appleton. It was available in PA until a few years ago when it was delisted, and Capital has never put it up for SLO. PA tiki enthusiasts would kill to be able to buy it again, since it's much more "mixable" than that other dark Jamaican rum, which too easily dominates drinks with its aggressive flavors.

Last year, J. Wray decided to expand the Coruba line with some flavors and a spiced rum, which is interesting because all of the new flavors use a light rum as a base, totally unlike the original Coruba. They've received mediocre reviews (f.e. see DrinkHacker), so it's a little frustrating that the original Coruba isn't available in PA but these new flavors are.
