Pour Moi is...um..."Cognac for Women." Really. The (male) founder of the brand ran a bunch of tasting panels composed of "average American women" and found that they all liked their cognac "smooth and fruity," so he blended a cognac to fit. Before you laugh, note that BTI gave it 89 points, the same score they gave Martell XO.

Michter's US*1 Rye made it to the online store finally. I was worried when I saw the price at first, but because of strong demand Michter's is getting more expensive everywhere in the country, so the PA price is within a few dollars of most out-of-state retailers now. I think it's worth it though--it's a rustic, kick-you-in-the-ass rye with a ton of flavor.

Too bad the Michter's isn't the REAL Michter's from Schaefferstown! That stuff was some excellent whiskey- I've got a few gallons stashed away. I've tried the Michter's rye already and I do like it, but not for $45. The American Whiskey is decent, as is the bourbon. It's just a shame that they aren't a little less expensive. Is there really that much demand for Michter's across the US?

Yep, the Michter's US*1 whiskeys are flying off the shelf everywhere. We actually lost some past allocations of their bourbon and American whiskey to other markets, and I expect the rye will remain an online-only item because we can't get enough to push it to stores. The national price on these has been creeping up from low $30s to mid $40s, so our $35 price on the bourbon and American whiskey looks pretty competitive now!

Really, that's a sign of the purchasing power of the PLCB. Pennsylvania is already a strong market for Bourbon and rye, so the prices can be competitive compared to out-of-state sources.

I'm a big fan of the Michter's American Whiskey. It's about as close as you can get to the original Schaefferstown-produced Michter's Pot Still Whiskey. Good flavor and a decent value. I hope they can get it back on the shelves soon. I'm almost out!
